You feel a bit more aware of the life cycle when you are in the country, there are so many more reminders of the fragility of it all.

The Rosella that won't be joining in on the squeaky, chattering of his mates this evening.

In the city we had never found a Wallaby skull in the backyard, or passed a dead Kangaroo on the way to school, but these things are becoming the norm. As I write this I can see a Kookaburra swooping down from his perch, catching a skink I imagine, & on it goes.
