I have noticed on my travels a number of colourful Elephants in the city, after a little research I discovered that they were to celebrate Melbourne Zoo's 150th birthday. Armed with cameras & the iPhone App we headed into the city to hunt down some Elephants.
The weather was lovely & the kids had so much fun spotting the different Elephants. There was lots of running & screaming, as things got a little competitive & the App was very handy when it came to working out where the closest Elephants were.
My personal favourites were the elephants done by David Bromley & Deborah Halpern, at Federation Square & The Melbourne Town Hall respectively.
The kids took lots of photos & it was so much fun being Tourists in our home town. By the time the weather had turned we have covered a lot of ground & were all ready to head home. We managed to find 20 out of the 50 Elephants, 2 of which aren't in the city, but at the Melbourne Zoo, so another day of Elephant of hunting may be on the cards.
If you don't have an iPhone you can get paper Mali maps at the information centres in the city & if you are looking for school holiday activities, I would definitely add this to the list.
