Chalkin' It Up...

The kids' table was looking a bit worse for wear, so when scrubbing wouldn't fix it I decided it was the perfect project for the chalkboard paint that I had squirrelled away.

Chalkboard Table

After sanding the table I did one layer of undercoat & then two of chalkboard paint, letting each coat dry overnight.

Chalkin'

The finish isn't perfect, but it does the job & the table is quite a novelty for the kids right now.

Lots of detailed little drawings being completed.

Chalk

And chalky mess being made.

The chalk in the last photo looks good enough to eat!

Good job Chris x

That looks fantastic - prepare to have children perpetually covered in a film of chalk dust from now on though! We have a chalk-wall in the play/craft room, and various other blackboards around the house, there is always a telltale smudge somewhere on the kiddo! ;)

Love it to bits. Have the smalls discovered the joys of scraping fingers and chalkboard paint?

Fantastic idea - I'll have to keep that in mind before ditching our own rather battered coffee table.

Lovely! Just stumbled across your blog, looking for versions of the 'little pup' from 'more softies'. You take beautiful photos and I'm enjoying looking through your old posts.

Where did you find the blackboard paint? I've heard lots of mentions of it on US blogs, but I didn't know you could get it in Aus.

Hi Jen, I have purchased the spray on chalk board paint at Riot Art & Craft & Bunnings stock chalkboard paint too.

Go get some, it's lots of fun to play with!
