Happy Accident...

15032010-7387

Six weeks ago I started a beginners photography class, a class I should have taken two years ago, but better late than never I guess. I am slowly learning to use my camera properly & taking the time to have a play with settings in different circumstances to get my camera to do what I want it to. Last night I was snapping some photos of Willow in the fading light (& trying to get the exposure right) when this happy accident happened. I love this shot. I know it is overexposed & I'm sure there are a million other things wrong with it but I love it anyway.

It's a beautiful shot! I love how her hair works with the light and how they highlight her amazing eyes!

Great work!

sometimes a beautiful image doesn't need to be technically correct to capture the viewers attention.
goodluck with the course

I think it is PERFECT...captures Willow's spirit beautifully.

I love it too - it's quite beautiful - and a little creepy too... a little Mark Ryden-esque. xx

I love it too. Can I ask which course you're doing? I'm working up to doing one in Melbourne at the moment and don't know where to start.

You're "taking" a photography class? Girl, you should be teaching it! I love your photos with a passion! This one is particularly gorgeous - but then again she is one of your best creations right? ;)

no it works.....
just play around with elements such as exposure if the photo works and it does, dont be worrying about the text book correctness or incorrectness. The paleness accentuates the blue of her eyes the shot works for me in terms of saturation of colour....a really lovely image.

that slightly-overexposed look is en-vogue in children's photography ATM anyway, so you're just going with the trend :)

Like Cathie said, technically perfect is NOT the bomb, but like anything, knowing your theory first makes you a better artist (IMO)

I think it's lovely :)
