Poppy The Princess...

Whenever someone asks Willow what she wants for her birthday, the answer is always the same, 'a princess dolly'. As her birthday has gotten closer (& she hasn't changed her mind) I realised that she might be quite disappointed on her birthday if she didn't get one.

Princess Poppy

To rectify the situation I purchased Fiona's Poppy Doll pattern, & I figured if I made Poppy a crown & pink dress, she would fit the bill.

Princess Poppy

I'm quite chuffed with how she turned out, I changed her hairline a little at the front & using matching wool I plaited some braids & gave her a bun. She is made from Doctor Flannel & stuffed firmly with wool stuffing, so she feels nice & solid. I altered the reversible top pattern to make her dress & after a few tries & a fair amount of unpicking I am fairly happy with the result, although with a bit more planning I could have made her dress reversible which would have been pretty fancy.

Ribbon Sash

The crown is 2 layers of wool felt, plus some ribbon, which matches the ribbon on her dress. I haven't made her any other clothes as yet (as I was a bit rushed by the looming birthday deadline), but I can't wait to make her some more outfits at a later date. I hope Willow likes her, but I don't mind if she doesn't, I would happily keep her for myself!

Chris...she is so pretty.

Willow is going to be one happy princess on Saturday with her new princess dolly.

And I imagine a certain someone will be nagging me for one....hmmm...unfortunatley, my doll making skills are sorely lacking!

She is an especially lovely Princess at that! I'm sure she is very sweet, can make yummy cup cakes, like to pat cats and give everyone she knows surprise presents for no reason at all.

Hope she lives happily ever after!

Oh Willow will absolutely love her, as I know I do. I have made one too but didnt do blue eyes. I will need to remember that next time when I make one. I love the outfit too and the crown is just so perfectly matched with the outfit. You can always make another for yourself, lol!

She is rather lovely - so sweet in fact that I bought the pattern this morning. In case I don't feel pressured enough I'm now wondering if I can make two by Christmas. Last year I was using my own pattern about this time so perhaps ....

Yours is the second reference to the Poppy Doll pattern I've seen today. I'd been considering it for a while but I think I should definitely buy the pattern now. I'm feeling inspired.
