New Shorts...

it's been a while since I have been sewing & today I finally switched on my trusty sewing machine for a spot of refashioning. Ryder has a bit of a collection of jeans with holes in the knees, in the past I have patched a pair, but with the weather getting so warm (& shorts in short supply) I decided to go the chop instead. One pair I chopped & left to fray, but The other were a darker denim & I wanted to finish the hems so that they looked neat enough for Kinder.

I made some stripy binding & sewed it onto the raw edges, then I turned the jeans inside out, flipped up the blinding & (using blue thread on the bobbin so the seams would blend into the denim) I sewed along the top & bottom edges.

Cuffs

Then I turned them the right way out again, & voilà, new denim shorts. I had planned on the binding being hidden, but I quite like them with the cuff turned up & the stripes showing. I think next time I will make the binding wider for that reason.
