Food, Glorious Food...

It is funny, food is quite a big part of my life & yet I very rarely blog about it. A big factor is that fact that I, myself don't cook. Today, however after a last minute change of plans & the glorious Melbourne weather kept us indoors I broke my golden rule & turned on the oven, twice!
It may not look crash hot but this homemade pizza tasted pretty darn good to me, especially considering I often forget to eat lunch & end up having a cold cup of tea- what an improvement! This is my favourite pizza topping combination: goat's cheese (Meredith Dairy), prosciutto, pesto, roasted capsicums & tomato paste. I think I will have to do pizza for lunch once a week from now on. Ryder made his own pizza & he & Lo were very happy eating simple tomato & cheese pizzas too.

On a roll from such a successful first cooking attempt & with new found confidence from last weeks cupcake class, I moved onto dessert.

My frosting technique was a bit average, but I did hit my stride by the last few cupcakes. I had been planning on the frosting being a delicate pink, but apparently two drops of Queen's pillar box red ain't that subtle-oops!

that pizza looks so good - and your cupcakes are divine - well done. I think I might just have to do this class - even just to learn that swirl

Both the pizza and the cupcakes look super fabulous t me and super proffessional!ANyway I'm a great believer in that food doesn't have to look beautiful to taste good but that's not saying that your pizza or cupcakes look bad they look great!!But really it all ends up in your stomach and it doesn't know if it was pretty or not. I'm not a real cook either, I mean I cook dinner coz I have to I don't enjoy it though.
Lets hope our boys do better tonight, and hope to high heaven that we don't end up with Fev next year!
( are you as upset with that suggestion as I am?)xx

Sarah: frosting recipe
8 oz cream cheese - room temp
4 oz unsalted butter - soft
500 grams icing sugar - sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
~PLUS colouring if you like!

Sharon: The piping bag came in the goodie bag I got from the cupcake class I did so I don't know where to get them, but the brand is Multix & the pack had 3 different nozzles & 5 bags

Hope that helps!
