Due to the untimely death of my sewing machine, I have been forced to focus on hand-sewing projects-blah! The truth is that I actually love hand sewing, but what I don't like is not having another option... but enough whinging, & on to my new obsession & more importantly what is on my desk this week.
Today, due to the aforementioned technical difficulties 'on my desk' is really 'on my lap' & my new love is paper piecing. I think it all began a while ago when I saw this amazing tree over at disdressed & of course the internet provided printable templates too (courtesy of moxy ideas), so I was off & running. Naturally the next step was to add my little box of hexagons to the pile of UFOs in my sewing room, possibly never to been seen (or more importantly completed) again. The broken sewing machine changed all of that & last night, desperate to sew something I pulled out the hexagons.
These are such a great use of tiny scraps of fabric & I have quite a vast amount of those as I can't bear to throw away bits of fabric that I love. Knowing me they will never end up as anything, but at the moment I am really enjoying the process of making them. I may one day be the crazy old lady & her hexagons.
My doll quilt has also arrived safely at it's new home with the lovely & super talented Kim. Amazingly Australia Post actually delivered it in one piece & in a rather timely fashion, so watch out for flying pigs.
