On My Desk...

On my desk today is the beginnings of my mini quilt for the doll quilt swap. I have been putting off starting this as I was a bit intimidated by the whole applique process, but the last Brown Owl's meeting boosted my confidence & I have jumped on in. I originally saw this design posted by the lark during the week of embroidery that floresita hosted at meet me at mikes. I really liked it & filed a copy in my sewing room to be used for some future project...ok, I dumped in a pile of mess that is my sewing room to decompose if not rescued!
Unfortunately on my other desk I have some less desirable paperwork, admission forms for the RCH. On Friday my brave little man has to go under a general to have a lump removed from under his arm. It is a minor procedure (in an adult it would be done under a local) but of course I will be very glad when it is over & Ryder is resting at home in his own bed. Mum was smart enough to suggest that I take some sewing with me to pass the time while I am waiting...

I'm sure Ryder will be a very brave little boy and recover very quickly. Looking forward to seeing your doll quilt too.

Oh Christie - gorgeous beginnings there. I also loved this embroidery template @ The Lark.

Good luck for Friday - I'm sure it will all go very smoothly & your mum is VERY wise.

Good luck for Friday Christie! I know how stressy it is when anything medical happens to one of your precious children. I'm sure that all will go fine, and you might even get some stitching done!

I loved that applique design when I saw it too!
Hope all goes well for Ryder on Friday. My baby nephew had a similar op to remove a lump a few months ago....very stressful time for mummies, sewing would definitely be helpful.

THe RCH are really great. We've had 8 admissions with M asthma and I always feel like Im the only mother they've ever spoken too! The nurses are so sensitive and kind. He will be in good hands.

Wow I love that design - your quilt will be fantastic. I'll be thinking of you at the RCH and I'm sure everything will be just fine. We spend a lot of time there every year for blood tests and stuff and I know how much waiting around there can be - sewing is definitely a good idea and a great distraction!

Stitching while waiting is such a good idea, and that design is gorgeous!
