Today was a very big day in our house as it was Ryder's first day of school. To clarify he actually started kindergarten but we are calling it school. He had been there a while ago for a bit of a look-see & has been talking about it ever since so we weren't really concerned about how he would fare on his first day. As soon a he was back in his classroom his eyes were wide as saucers as he wandered around, exploring all the new toys to play with. As we tried to say a meaningful goodbye to him we literally had to drag him away from a train-set that he was engrossed in assembling. He wasn't at all fussed by our departure, which I guess is a good thing. I think our biggest concern was the toilet issue... Toilet training in our house has been a long & bumpy road & it was made very clear to us that Ryder had to be toilet trained before he could come to school. Whilst for the most part he is, we are far from accident free so I was nervous that a new environment may cause some problems. Thankfully I was wrong. The only problem we had was when I came to pick him up at lunchtime I struggled to drag him out of the sandpit. Phew!
Our second milestone today was Lo getting her first pair of shoes. Although she has actually been wearing shoes for a little while now, they have mainly been Ryder's cast-offs & it was time for her to be properly fitted. Today (as has become a family tradition) my mum took us shopping to buy Lo her proper first shoes, just as her Mum did the same for me many years ago.I have to admit that when I first found out that I was having a baby girl I had visions of Many Janes & vintage-style frocks floating around in my head. These little navy start rite Mary Janes are as cute as I ever imagined. Where did my babies go...?
