Bonny Blue Babe...

So this is one part of what was on my desk on Wednesday...
I saw the very talented Emily of inside a black apple on Martha Stewart recently, demonstrating how she makes her dolls. I thought it would be a quick, fun project to try, however once I started making my little doll I got a bit carried away.
I really enjoyed making this doll & was amazed at how attached I got to her by the time she was finished. I decided to embroider her features on (instead of painting them as emily does) with the exception of her rosy cheeks which I drew on with red crayon as I did with Lo's Steiner doll.
I also tricked up her frock with a herringbone stitch-this may be my new favorite stitch, I want to put it on everything!
Unfortunately this little lass will not be a permanent resident at our house as she is heading off as a gift, however I cannot wait to make another ( & another & another) of these little cuties, I am already planning their little outfits...

So gorgeous! Love her! My softie making is dodgy, so I'll have to practice on something for the Mirabel ones. If this one's from a free pattern, it might be the one :)
