My New Toy...

I got a new toy for Christmas, this beautiful vintage sewing box in mint condition. Gee my sis knows me well. I have had lots of fun filling it up with my little sewing treasures & projects. It's really nice to have everything I need for sewing in one place & ready to go. It has been living in the lounge room (as I like to sew when watching telly), although I don't know if Rog is happy with it living there as it keeps relocating. Inside I have this quited scarf that I am making for Lo. My sewing machine packed up right when I was about to quilt it so I have been quilting it by hand. It is super slow going but I am really enjoying the process, plus I do like the look of the hand stitching on the back of the scarf.
The front of the scarf is a combination of black linen & beautiful Japanese fabric that I was very generously given by a friend before Christmas- I think she is going to sell some scrap fabric packs on etsy in the future so keep your eyes peeled. The back is olive linen with the contrasting black hand stitching. I am going to finish it off with a buttonhole & a big black button. I based the design on this tutorial. Hopefully I will get it finished in time for Winter...

Thats a lovely gift from your sister. You are very lucky to have one that knows exactly what you like.
Scarf is really cute. I don't have the patience for all that hand sewing.
