Boy's/Girls' Day Out...

Today the boys (Rog, Dad & Ryder) headed to Healsville Sanctuary to watch the Birds of Prey show. Unfortunately there were a couple of rouge eagles in the area so they didn't get to see the eagle fly as planned - apparently eagles are territorial & the good people at the Sanctuary didn't want a stoush to break out. I imagine it is a fair call, judging by their claws that it would be rather nasty.
They did get to see a Falcon though & some cute Owls. I love Owls. I think Roger was rather disappointed with the amount of wildlife at the Sanctuary (he was similarly disappointed on our last trip to the Zoo too), but there were some (sleeping) Koalas, an emu & a couple of Kangaroos.
Meanwhile the girls (me, Mum, Willow & Dani) headed to Warrandyte for some lunch & a spot of shopping. I found some fabric gems at the op-shop including some fab vintage pillow cases- so much better than op-shopping in the big smoke.
There is also a great second hand book shop on the main street & I got some fantastic hardcover children's books. The prices were ridiculously good & the Heidi book is to die for! I have been thinking about books a lot of late, prompted by Kirsty's posting on the subject. I was lucky to grow up with a mum that was crazy about books, I hope my kids will describe me the same way one day!
